    Undefined classes of device ?

    Hello,

being this my first post, i would like, first of all, to congratulate you on your work. It is of great importance in mobile development.

Secondly, i would like to expose a problem regarding the device inquiry. When searching for devices, i obtained the regular classes of device

like CellPhone, SmartPhone, PdaComputer, CordlessPhone, etc...

But i also obtained some strange values (listed bellow), which i believe being undefined CODs on the library,

    1776, 5756, 576,  4612, 2628, 5204, 1432, 1036, 6600, 6764, 7048, 1728, 1268, 2400, 664,

Can you help me map these values to a 'literal' class of device ?

    Thank you,

    Francisco

Re: Undefined classes of device ?

What kind of devices are you receiving these from?  The layout is defined by Bluetooth and the ClassOfDevice class just splits the value into the two/three fields.

The second last value has a hexadecimal value of 0x298, which gives a Major Device Class of 9, which is undefined by the specification.  So something wrong there...

    Hello Alan. Thanks for replying.

"What kind of devices are you receiving these from?"

That's precisely what i want to know. I'll show you a partial view of my database...

    CoD                         Services

    1776                         Rendering
    2628                         Network, ObjectTransfer, Telephony
    2400                         Network, ObjectTransfer, Telephony
    1036                         Audio
7048                         Positioning, Network, Capturing, Audio, Telephony, Information
    1728                         Positioning, Rendering, Capturing, ObjectTransfer
    5756                         Capturing, ObjectTransfer, Telephony
    5204                         Network
    6764                         Positioning, Capturing, Information
    1268                         Capturing, Telephony, Information
6600                         Positioning, Network, Rendering, ObjectTransfer, Telephony, Information
    664                           594
    4612                         596
    1432                         ObjectTransfer, Audio, Information
576                           Network, Capturing, ObjectTransfer, Audio, Information

Now, the value you've mention (664, which is 0x298) is more odd than i expected because even the services field value has that undefined code.

    What about the other codes?

So what conclusion can we take from this? These devices are not in acordance with the Bt specification ?

    Francisco
